About the Smoky Mountains Area of Tennessee

Real Estate in the Smokies The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited national park in the United States - and is within an 8 hour drive of more than 60% of the country's population. Over 10 million people visit this region each year - with some projections that this number may double over the next five years. The value of real estate in this area continues to grow - both because of people moving to this scenic area to live and to retire and because of the expansion of resort and rental cabins, chalets, condos, and vacation homes to provide for visitors to the area. The communities of the area offer abundant attractions for visitors - whether for tourism, business, or meetings and conventions. The region offers a family oriented atmosphere with all kinds of recreational activities: trout & bass fishing, whitewater rafting, golf, miniture golf, horseback riding, hiking, tubing, and numerous campgrounds.

Sevierville

Sevier County Court House Sevierville is a historic city that is rapidly developing into a commercial, convention, recreation, and shopping center for the area. It is home to the minor league Tennessee Smokies baseball team and to a new Sevierville Events Center that will host regional and national conventions & meetings.

Sevierville was established in 1795, the year after the formation of Sevier County - both of which are named after John Sevier, first Governor of the State of Tennessee. The current court house, a historic landmark, was completed in 1895 - and is the fifth court house serving Sevier County.

Sevierville Events Center Dumplin Creek, under development, will include over 800,000 square feet of retail space plus 400,000 square feet for entertainment and hospitality venues. There is a Bass Pro Shop and The Shops at Bridgemont is under construction.

Wears Valley Wears Valley lies in the majestic hills of the beautiful Smoky Mountains bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park six miles from Pigeon Forge. Wears Valley is known as one of the most beautiful and picturesque valleys you will find anywhere in the United States. Wears Valley offers the serenity and seclusion of the mountains but the convenience of being close to all the action of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Close by are hiking trails, mountain streams and waterfalls, wildlife viewing, whitewater rafting, tubing, and other outdoor adventures provided by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Metcalf Bottoms, Elkmont and the Cades Cove areas of the Smokies are just minutes away from Wears Valley.

Known as "The Peaceful Side of the Smokies", the Townsend area with its abundance of accommodations, craft shops, seasonal festivals, and abundant outdoor activities, provides an ideal place to live or to retire.
